What is intution
If rationality and emotionality are the two extremes of our cognition, then it seems to me that being intuitive falls in between the two. What does it mean to be intuitive anyways? Wikipedia reports that being intuitive means that one is able to make judgments without any prior knowledge and having flashes of insight. But then what does it mean to have flashes of insight? Again, Wikipedia states that attaining insight means to come up with a solution suddenly, the moment when an understanding of a problem clicks in. So intuition is akin to solving a problem, but it is not solving it consciously, but rather unconsciously. And the interesting question to ask is what does it mean to solve put effort in solving a problem unconsciously? Can it be even done? Is it possible to use our cognitive resources that are not directly accessible to deal with a problem that is directly possible? And is it the “self” that is to be congratulated on solving a problem or is it something else? There isn’t any computer paradigm that is similar to the concept of having unconscious processes. Intuition appears to be a result of having a non linear system.
